A Transplant’s Perspective On Where To Dine And Dance In Miami

Miami has so much to offer when it comes to its vibrant food and music scene. When I moved here over four years ago, I was eager to explore its seemingly endless hospitality experiences that showcase the melting pot of flavors and sounds that make “Magic City” including an amalgamation of Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe influences, and beyond. From family-owned Cuban cafes serving up authentic ropa viejas and mojitos to Michelin-starred restaurants redefining modern Mediterranean cuisine, over the last few years I have, sampled the best bites and imbibed the most inspired libations Miami has to offer (and yet still have more places to visit).

With so many options, it can be a little overwhelming to know what is worth the visit and what isn’t—and believe me, there are some notable places that don’t deliver on the hype. Whether you are visiting or live here and want to expand your horizons, I rounded up some of my favorite destinations in Miami and Miami Beach that are definitely worth the visit if you want to satiate your stomach then move your body on the dancefloor.

By far, one of my absolute favorite dining experiences here in Miami is LPM. Located in the Brickell neighborhood tucked away in a quiet nook near the bay, this French-Mediterranean restaurant offers a classy ambiance that is understated, and a mouthwatering menu inspired by the flavors of the French Riviera.

LPM has several locations around the world including London that opened in 2007 and Dubai, which opened in 2010. LPM Miami was opened in 2017. One of its founding partners, Arjun Waney also founded famed Japanese restaurant Zuma (with a location not far away from LPM in Brickell).

“We decided to enter into Miami following Zuma’s success, since the market was still very raw of international and high-quality restaurant concepts. There was a gap in the market that needed to be taken,” shares Nicolas Budzynski, CEO, LPM Restaurant & Bar. “Having now been open for 7 years, we see the concept going from strength to strength and growing, despite the fierce competition in Miami. It seems LPM has been embraced for being different.”

Indeed, it has. I have eaten at LPM numerous times since I have lived here—sometimes months apart. What I appreciate and have come to expect is the consistency with the food and service, which are both on point. I don’t think you can go wrong ordering any of the dishes this establishment offers its guests. I particularly love their gnocchi and Chilean Sea Bass. But one suggestion I would make is try out the Tomatini cocktail, which tastes like a fresh garden salad. It’s fantastic.
